Today is the 19th Sunday after Pentecost.  Tone 2.  Today we commemorate the Fathers of the 7th Ecumenical Council (Nicea, 787), and the Apostle Philip the Deacon from the 70.

TROPARIA (T. 2)—When Thou didst descend to death, O Life Immortal,/ Thou didst slay hell with the splendor of Thy Godhead;/ and when from the depths Thou didst raise the dead,/ all the powers of heaven cried out:/ “O Giver of Life, Christ our God, glory to Thee!”

(St. Catherine, T. 5)—Let us sing the praise of the renowned Bride of Christ, Catherine, the divine protectress of Sinai, our help and our succor; for she has brilliantly silenced the refinements of the impious by the power of the Spirit; and since she has been crowned as a witness of the Lord, she craves for all the great mercy.

(Fathers, T. 8)—Most glorious art Thou, O Christ our God,/ Thou hast established he Holy Fathers as lights on the earth.  Through them Thou hast guided us to the true faith./ O greatly compassionate One, Glory to Thee

KONTAKIA, (T. 2)—Hell became afraid, O Almighty Savior,/ seeing the miracle of Thy Resurrection from the tomb./ The dead arose. Creation with Adam beheld this and rejoiced with Thee;/ and the world, O my Savior praises Thee forever

(St. Catherine, T. 2)—Let all of us who love to honor the martyrs/ form a great choir in praise of the most-wise Catherine;/ for she preached Christ and trampled the serpent,/ despising the knowledge of the orators.

Glory…
(Fathers, T. 6)—The Son Who shone forth from the Father/ was ineffably born , two-fold in nature, of a woman./ Having beheld Him, we do not deny the image of His form,/ but depict it piously and revere it faithfully./ Thus, keeping the true Faith,/ the Church venerates the icon of Christ Incarnate.

Now and ever…
(Theotokos, T. 6)— Steadfast Protectress of Christians, constant advocate before the Creator, do not despise the cries of us sinners; but in your goodness come speedily to help us who call on you in faith.  Hasten to hear our petitions and to intercede for us, O Theotokos, for you always protect those who honor you.

PROKEIMENON (T. 2, Ps. 117)—The Lord is my strength and my song.  He has become my salvation.
  1. The Lord has chastened me sorely, but He has not given me over unto death.

EPISTLE:  II Cor. 11:31-12:9; Hebrews 13:7-16

ALLELUIA (T. 2, Ps. 19)—May the Lord hear you in the day of your trouble; may the Name of the God of Jacob protect you!
  1. Save the King, O Lord, and hear us on the day we call upon Thee.

GOSPEL:  Luke 7:11-16; John 17:1-13
